HMS Alliance Royal Submarine

HMS Alliance was originally designed for use in the Far East which included improvements in the design, regarding creature comforts, over earlier boats. With the advent of the cold war the emphasis turned to anti-submarine criteria, hence she was modernised in 1958 to make her faster and quieter. This included a redesign of the conning tower, removal of the deck gun and addition of sonar equipment on the bow.
